Job summary

Mission Staffing is seeking a Chief Financial Officer for a leading private alternative investment manager in New York. The role will direct finance and accounting across multiple investment entities and partner with firm leadership on strategic initiatives.

The CFO will oversee closes, fund accounting, treasury, tax planning, and investor reporting while building scalable systems and controls for growth. Strong private market experience and CPA are required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in finance and accounting with progressive responsibilities.
• Public and private accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with hedge funds or alternative asset managers.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fund accounting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee accounting and reporting across investment entities
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
• Oversee fund administration, capital accounts, distributions, investor activity
• Direct treasury operations, cash forecasting, and liquidity management
• Lead tax planning and compliance with external advisors
• Oversee investor reporting and responses to information requests
• Manage relationships with auditors, fund administrators, custodians, and other service providers
• Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls
• Partner with senior leadership on financial analysis and strategic initiatives
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team

Job Description:

• Lead financial operations, accounting, and reporting across the firm’s investment entities


• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes


• Manage financial statements, consolidations, and investment-level accounting


• Oversee fund administration, capital accounts, distributions, and investor activity


• Direct treasury operations, cash forecasting, and liquidity management


• Lead tax planning and compliance in coordination with external advisors


• Oversee investor reporting and financial information requests


• Manage relationships with auditors, fund administrators, custodians, and other service providers


• Evaluate and improve financial systems, processes, and internal controls


• Partner with senior leadership on financial analysis, strategic initiatives, and new investment structures


• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team

Requirements / Qualifications:

• 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience


• Public and private accounting experience preferred


• CPA required


• Experience within a hedge fund, alternative asset manager, private equity firm, or similar investment environment


• Strong knowledge of fund accounting, financial reporting, consolidations, and investment structures


• Experience with multi-entity investment platforms


• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and partnership/fund accounting


• Experience overseeing external service providers and auditors


• Strong Excel and financial modeling skills


• Proven ability to build processes and operate effectively in a lean environment
