Job summary

The Karuk Tribe of California is seeking a Chief Finance Officer to lead the Finance Department on-site in Happy Camp, CA. This senior role manages accounting, budgeting, payroll, procurement and financial reporting to the Tribal Council and external agencies.

Salary ranges from $135,000 to $200,000 depending on experience. The CFO will train Finance staff, ensure GAAP compliance, oversee audits and coordinate with tribal leadership on financial strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience in GAAP, federal grants and audit preparation.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex financial documents.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for financial planning.

Responsibilities

• Directs accounting and financial management activities and relationships with funding agencies and vendors.
• Develops, recommends and enforces sound fiscal management policies and internal controls; coordinates audits.
• Trains, supervises and evaluates Finance staff involved in payroll, procurement, and financial reporting.
• Prepares financial reports for Tribal Council and key stakeholders; communicates financial condition and trends.
