We’re seeking a strategic yet hands-on Controller (or operational CFO) to lead financial operations at the parent level while driving M&A integration, ERP optimization, and project-level financial performance across a portfolio of dynamic, project-based businesses. This high-impact role offers direct visibility with the C-suite and ownership, a chance to shape financial strategy while executing the day-to-day, and the opportunity to make a real difference in a company building smarter, safer infrastructure across the U.S.

Responsibilites:

• Lead all accounting operations for the parent company while supporting finance teams across a growing portfolio of subsidiaries
• Consolidate monthly and quarterly financials across multiple operating companies and ensure timely, GAAP-compliant reporting
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning, aligning finance strategy with business objectives
• Standardize and enhance project accounting processes to improve insight into WIP, job profitability, and cost-to-complete
• Collaborate closely with operations and field leaders to provide financial analysis and guidance on active projects
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory compliance frameworks
• Manage external relationships including auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP optimization, automation, and reporting enhancements
• Support M&A efforts including financial due diligence, onboarding of new entities, and integration
• Mentor and develop the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and execution

Who You Are:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles
• Experience with multi-entity consolidation and intercompany transactions
• Industry experience in construction, engineering, or industrial services is highly desirable
• Strong GAAP knowledge and hands-on audit experience
• Comfortable in a growth-stage, entrepreneurial environment with evolving systems and structures
• Experienced in project-based ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Deltek, Viewpoint, NetSuite, Sage)
• Strategic thinker with the ability to roll up your sleeves and execute day-to-day operations
• Effective communicator and collaborative leader, comfortable working across departments and executive teams
