Job summary

Retrofête is actively seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to spearhead financial strategy, planning, and analysis for its growing fashion business. The role partners with the CEO and sales leaders to shape the company’s financial direction while supporting expansion across retail, e-commerce, and wholesale.

The CFO will oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, risk management, and capital planning, ensuring financial stability and sustained growth in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership within fashion, retail, or consumer goods.
  • At least 3 years’ experience overseeing finance and accounting in a growing business.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate finance, investor relations, and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial planning and analysis activities, including annual budgets.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and leads to establish budgets, sales goals, and projections.
  • Conduct quarterly and monthly forecasts and develop long-term strategic growth plans.
  • Sign off on KPIs and financial reviews across channels (retail, website, wholesale).
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reviews, including P&L and expense tracking.
  • Identify opportunities/risks and provide data-driven recommendations.
  • Monitor banking operations and cash flow forecasting.
  • Oversee accounting and internal controls to ensure accuracy.
  • Develop financial models for new opportunities and market expansion.
  • Review contracts, leases, and insurance; manage legal documents.
  • Lead tax reporting with external providers and filings.
  • Prepare information for investor presentations and lender communications.

Job description

Retrofête is seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to spearhead our financial strategy, planning, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in driving robust growth and ensuring financial stability and growth within the fashion industry. This strategic role involves close collaboration with the CEO and sales channel leaders to shape the company’s financial direction and support our ongoing expansion across retail, e-commerce, and wholesale platforms. This position is critical in aligning our financial goals with our business objectives and fostering sustained growth and innovation.

Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Budgeting
  • Oversee all financial planning and analysis activities, including preparation of annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, and other leads to establish budgets, sales goals, and projections on an ongoing basis.
  • Conduct quarterly and monthly business forecasts and develop long-term strategic growth plans in collaboration with the executive team.
Performance Reporting & Analysis
  • Sign off on sales goals across our retail, website, and wholesale channels.
  • Develop and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to uncover growth opportunities and address potential revenue shortfalls.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reviews, including performance evaluations, P&L reviews, and expense tracking.
  • Identify potential opportunities and risks and provide business recommendations based on financial insights.
Operational Oversight
  • Closely monitor and control banking operations and cash flow forecasting.
  • Oversee accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial management.
  • Identify and mitigate performance risks through effective risk assessment and the implementation of internal controls.
Business Development & Strategy
  • Create and manage financial models to evaluate new business opportunities, capital investments, expansion into new product categories, channels, and markets.
  • Develop a forward-looking retail roadmap strategy for the next five years.
  • Manage the review of contracts, financial agreements, leases, insurance policies, and other legal documents.
Taxation & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary contact for tax-related matters, working closely with external providers to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual tax filings.
Investor Relations & Reporting
  • Prepare financial information for investor presentations and discussions, including financial forecasts and KPI reports.
  • Key point of contact for collaboration and information flows with lenders.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership within the fashion, retail, or consumer goods industry.
  • At least 3 years’ experience overseeing finance and accounting in a growing business, startup preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, investor relations, and best practices.
  • Proven experience with retail stores, wholesale operations, and e-commerce platforms.
  • Comfortable overseeing IT topics, Oracle NetSuite experience highly preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with a strategic mindset and entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Salary Range: $280,000 - $380,000
