Germer International is seeking a seasoned Chief Financial Officer to lead the Finance group and partner with the CEO and family owners on strategy, liquidity, and governance. This role requires discretion, strategic thinking, and deep expertise in corporate finance and risk management.

You will oversee financial planning, reporting, and IT systems, align capital allocation with wealth goals, and mentor a high-performing team while ensuring regulatory compliance and strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in finance, accounting or business administration.
• 15+ years of progressive financial experience, CFO/VP of Finance in private/family-owned business is ideal.
• Strong understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and taxation; high discretion with family dynamics.

Position Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as the leader of the Finance group. They will provide the financial backbone and serve as a strategic partner to the CEO and ownership family. Beyond overseeing standard accounting operations, the CFO will safeguard the company’s long-term financial health and ensure that the business generates the capital and liquidity required to support family wealth and succession goals. The CFO will also be a part of the Executive Team that evaluates overall company risk and strategic goals. The ideal candidate must excel at bridging complex business finances with family dynamics, demonstrating utmost discretion, ethical judgment, and trust.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Family Wealth Alignment

• Develop and execute long-term financial strategies that align with the family's legacy goals, risk tolerance, and growth objectives.
• Work closely with the family's wealth managers, estate planners, and tax advisors to integrate corporate financial data with personal wealth and tax strategies.
• Advise the family ownership on capital allocation, dividend policies, and liquidity events.

Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis

• Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring transparent and accurate reporting to family members and stakeholders.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
• Be involved in due diligence and providing financial analysis related to mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships
• Monitor cash flow on a continuous basis, ensuring adequate liquidity for daily operations, investments, and economic downturns.

IT & Systems Management

• Lead and manage the IT group and ensure that IT services are aligned with the needs of the business and in compliance with security requirements.

Risk Management & Governance

• Identify and mitigate financial, operational, and market risks to protect the business and family assets.
• Establish and maintain robust internal financial controls, cybersecurity measures, and governance policies.
• Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements and tax codes.
• Work with senior leadership on overall management involving insurance reviews and other strategic decisions

Leadership & Communication

• Serve as the trusted "financial conscience" of the company, communicating complex financial data in clear, accessible terms for family members who may not be active in daily operations.
• Manage, mentor, and build a high-performing in-house finance and accounting team.
• Act as the primary financial liaison with external banks, lenders, auditors, and legal counsel.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Master's degree, CPA, or CFA highly preferred.
• Experience: 15+ years of progressive financial experience, ideally including experience as a CFO or VP of Finance in a private, family-owned business or middle-market company.
• Competencies: Deep understanding of corporate finance, capital markets, and taxation. Exceptional emotional intelligence (EQ) and ability to navigate family dynamics with tact and discretion.
