Job summary

CFS is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer to provide hands-on financial leadership during a transitional period in Elkhart, Indiana. The role oversees accounting, reporting, budgeting, and compliance while partnering with executive leadership on strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will stabilize operations, drive process improvements, and mentor the finance team through change, with a focus on accuracy and timely financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
• Experience as CFO, Controller, or senior finance executive.
• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, and internal controls.
• Experience leading accounting teams through change or transition.
• ERP implementation or optimization experience is a plus.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all day-to-day accounting and finance operations.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Review and improve financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee payroll approval and accounting operations.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team.
• Partner with executive leadership to identify process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Support ongoing system optimization and financial reporting enhancements.
• Assist with audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Perform additional financial leadership responsibilities as needed.
