Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a Computational Fluid Dynamics Analyst to develop and apply simulation tools for complex aerodynamic systems supporting the nuclear nonproliferation mission space. The role involves collaboration with ORNL investigators, model validation, and documenting progress in reports and proposals.

Ideal candidates hold an MS in Aerospace Engineering or related field with strong CFD and programming skills (C++, Python, MATLAB).

Qualifications

• MS degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field; minimum two years of related experience.
• Excellent communication skills including verbal, presentation, and writing.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop simulation software to model complex system flows for nonproliferation tasks.
• Validate models and communicate issues to the development team.
• Collaborate with investigators and project management at ORNL.
• Document work in technical reports and presentations; participate in proposals.
• Interface with principal investigators, management, engineers, fabricators, modelers, and test personnel.
