Qualifications

Responsibilities

Payscale:

AP: $17-20/hr.

QP: $23.07/hr-$24.04/hr.

Summary:

This position reports to the Regional Director and is responsible for the coordination of the academic needs and the minor’s school system to ensure patients do not fall behind in their academic work while at the Child Facility Based Crisis Center.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Understand educational pathways for students in a variety of educational settings, through multiple school systems and know who to contact to assist with educational aspects of each minor.
• Obtain or arrange guardian consent for all necessary communication with relevant school systems.
• Maintain ongoing contact with the school director of student services, school counselors, school social workers, and other school personnel as necessary to obtain academic assignments, meet educational goals, and state regulations
• Assist the minor, guardian, and school systems in obtaining or complying with homebound instruction when necessary to continue to meet the educational need of the child and to avoid excessive or unnecessary absences.
• Obtain and address how any IEP or other special education goals will be met during treatment and/or made up post treatment
• Assure the minor have the needed devices and academic materials (assignments, tablets/computers, tests, school documents)
• Assure remote education is accessible as needed
• Upon admission assure that the minor is in the correct level of educational status to avoid unnecessary absences (e.g., assessing if child should continue in mainstream, have IEP, or be homebound while in treatment).
• Upon discharge share the appropriate information, medical orders and recommendations to the appropriate school personnel.
• Maintain weekly contact with FBC staff to ensure that minors have their necessary assignments, equipment, and scheduling to complete their academic work.
• Make themselves available for FBC staff meetings or Child/Family Treatment Team meetings as needed.
• Monitors minors’ services and response to the service and determines with the treatment team the need for adjustments in the service
• Documents monitoring and the actions taken/planned
• Monitors for progress/lack of progress through observation, interview, team consultation, and documentation review.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor or other management

Special Attributes:

Must possess a good attitude, work well with others, have a strong commitment to patient care, understand the school system, understand how to coordinate academic needs for minors in the CFBCs, and have knowledge of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Social Work or Health Care Fields.

Education and/or Experience:

Minimum of an Associate’s Degree; prefer Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Human Services field with at least 2 years of experience working directly with a school system. Strongest consideration will be given to someone with at least 2 years working in a public school setting as a teacher, social worker, psychologist, special education employee, guidance counselor or have been an administrator in a county office.
