Schedule: Full-Time

Shift: Monday - Friday, 4:00 pm - 12:30 am

The role you’ll contribute:

The Laboratory Assistant performs various laboratory support procedures in assigned areas, which may include phlebotomy and/or specimen processing in clinical and anatomical pathology areas. The role involves practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and support functions, with a focus on outstanding customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all.

  • Performs pre-analytical activities such as equipment maintenance, blood specimen collection, biological specimen processing, and cleaning/disinfection of equipment.

  • Performs post-analytical activities as needed.
  • Supports department operations, including answering phones and clerical duties.
  • Assists in training new staff and students.
Qualifications

What You Will Need:

  • Ability to draw and collect blood samples, verify records, and prepare specimens.
  • Knowledge of aseptic techniques and laboratory equipment.
  • Understanding of laboratory tests and ordering processes.
  • Proficiency with hospital and laboratory information systems.
  • Ability to evaluate specimens and document issues.
  • Ability to track and restock inventory.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
