Job summary

Reworld is hiring a Waste Processing Technician I to safely operate heavy equipment and support waste processing operations at our New York facility. This entry-level role requires basic mechanical understanding and the ability to handle varied waste streams with attention to safety and accurate data entry.

You will work with forklift equipment, assist with loading, and participate in routine upkeep while adhering to Reworld’s safety and inclusion standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1+ year of experience in shipping/receiving or similar environment.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Able to pass respirator fit test.
• Ability to utilize NetSuite.
• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as fork trucks, balers, compactors, etc.
• Process waste materials into like commodities or per vendor specifications.
• General housekeeping and maintenance of the area.
• Complete preventative maintenance paperwork for equipment.
• Load/unload van trailers and/or flat beds.
• Manage collection points within the facility.
• Demonstrate alignment with Reworld values, including safety and inclusion.
• Interact with plant personnel to determine local needs.

About the role

The Waste Processing Technician I (WPTI) is an entry level position responsible to safely perform the following fundamental tasks which may include the following: off-loading inbound trucks, verify container count, manifest number and other relevant data needed for waste processing. Container sampling, recognizing non-conforming material, and processing of material through shredding operations, direct loading into pit. The WPT I is expected to have a general mechanical understanding of waste processing equipment. Specifically, via forklift, forklift attachments, hose, and valve operation. This position will handle various types of waste during their daily routine and is expected to be safety conscious and understand the correct PPE to utilize during their tasks.

• Operate heavy equipment such as fork trucks, balers, compactors, etc.

• General housekeeping. Sweeping, washing and other maintenance of the area(s) Reworld is responsible for
• Preventative Maintenance paperwork for equipment
• Loading/Unloading of van trailers and/or flat beds
• Managing collection points within our facility

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED preferred; Reworld offers GED Works - a fully funded program for employees to achieve their GED
• 1+ year of experience in shipping/receiving like environment
• Forklift experience preferred
• Able to pass respirator fit test

Physical Demands

• Position requires working near and around operating mechanical parts and mobile equipment
