Job summary

LB Steel in Harvey, IL is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join our team. You will perform in-process and final inspections of welds, interpret weld symbols and technical drawings, qualify welders, and document inspection results with corrective actions when needed.

The role reports to the Quality Manager and requires a current CWI certification, 3+ years in heavy fabrication, strong problem solving and communication skills, and a hands-on, self-driven approach with minimal

Qualifications

• Current CWI Certification is required.
• 3+ years of experience in a heavy fabrication environment is required.
• NDT experience is a plus.
• Hands-on, self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Efficient time management and multitasking abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducting in-process and final inspections of welds both visually and using inspection tools.
• Identifying weld defects and other nonconformances to drawings, standards and specifications.
• Interpreting technical drawings and weld symbols.
• Qualifying welders and maintaining certifications.
• Documenting inspection results and initiating corrective actions.
