Job summary

GAS GLOBAL SERVICES seeks a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to perform inspections and non-destructive testing of welds in Houston, TX, in line with AWS, ASME, and project-specific standards. Start date anticipated November 2, 2026, with contract hire terms.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of welding inspection experience and a CWI credential from AWS, capable of ensuring compliance with procedures, safety regulations, and quality requirements in a demanding industrial environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of welding inspection experience, preferably in power plants or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, API, and other relevant standards.
• Familiarity with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW welding processes and materials.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and technical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual inspections and NDT of welds per AWS, ASME, and project standards.
• Verify welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material certifications.
• Monitor welding operations for compliance with procedures and safety regulations.
• Document inspection results, prepare detailed reports, and maintain records.
• Collaborate with project engineers, QA teams, and contractors to resolve welding issues.
• Ensure adherence to power plant safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Participate in root cause analysis for welding defects and recommend corrective actions.
