Position Overview

We are seeking full-time and part-time AWS Certified Welding Inspectors for fabrication shops that produce bridge and highway components for transportation agencies in the following areas:

• Chicago, IL
• Vincennes, IN
• Gary, IN
• Louisville, KY
• St. Louis, MO

Responsibilities

• Inspect welding, steel fabrication, coatings, expansion joints, bridge bearings, sign structures, bridge beams, drainage structures, and other materials.
• Monitor work for compliance with shop drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Communicate and coordinate with fabricators, clients, and engineers.
• Prepare daily shop reports.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
• AWS Certified Welding Inspector certification.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in teams.
• Reliable transportation.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with QA/QC of bridge and highway fabrication.
• Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certifications (UT, MT, PT, RT).
• AWS D1.1/D1.5 experience.
• Coating inspection experience.
• Certifications from AMPP, NACE, SSPC.
