What You'll Do

ECS Limited offers a unique opportunity for a talented Certified Welding Inspector (Specialty Technician I) to join our Houston team and advance your career in a dynamic work environment. As a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) at ECS, you will work on various projects, performing daily inspections of structural steel, welds, bolted connections, and conducting destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine observations of structural and reinforcing steel, including welded or bolted connections, using industry-standard methodologies and testing equipment, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
  • Perform calculations and data analysis based on sampling, test results, and inspections; handle drafting and administrative duties; maintain organization of field equipment and report issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; keep the team informed of site conditions and testing requests; attend project meetings as needed.
  • Receive training in ECS inspection methodologies; document findings accurately following engineering standards.
  • Inspections may also occur in fabrication facilities.
  • Be willing and able to learn and assist in related inspection and testing tasks, procedures, and projects.

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Willingness to obtain or possession of 2 relevant industry certifications (e.g., NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASNT, ASTM).
  • Ability to lift 40-70 lbs multiple times daily and occasionally lift up to 85 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license and insurance.
  • Reliable transportation to job sites; mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of destructive and non-destructive testing principles and standards.
  • Understanding of heavy construction safety practices.
  • Ability to work at heights.
  • Proficiency with electronic devices and basic MS Office skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering and construction plans.
  • If focusing on NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment.
