Job summary

SOCOTEC is seeking a Welding Inspector in Lacey, Washington. This role involves reviewing and verifying compliance of welding activities, preparing detailed inspection reports, and mentoring junior staff on inspection procedures.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience, holds current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification, and is proficient in Microsoft Office. The position offers a salary range of $40-60/hour based on qualifications along with various benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, Associate’s degree with relevant experience, or equivalent preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, procedures, and specifications.
• Communicate inspection findings and compliance issues.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports.
• Mentor junior inspectors on procedures and standards.

• Ensurecontractorscomplywithprojectspecifications,approvedweldingprocedures,andapplicableAWS/IBCrequirements
• Verifywelderqualificationsandweldingprocedurespecifications(WPS/PQR)
• PerformvisualweldinspectionsinaccordancewithAWSD1.1andotherapplicablecodes
• Documentwelddiscontinuities,deficiencies,andcorrectiveactions
• MaintaincurrentAWSCWIcertificationandotherrequiredcredentials

Qualifications

• WorkingknowledgeofAWSD1.1,applicablebuildingcodes,andindustrystandardsrelatedtostructuralsteelweldingandinspection
• Abilitytoreadandinterpretconstructiondrawings,weldingsymbols,shopdrawings,specifications,andweldingprocedurespecifications(WPS/PQR)
• ProficiencyinMicrosoftOfficeapplicationsincludingWord,Excel,andOutlook
• Validdriver’slicensewithacceptabledrivingrecord
• Strongattentiontodetailwiththeabilitytoprioritizeandmanagemultipleprojectsandinspectionassignments
• Abilitytoworkindependentlyinthefieldandcommunicateeffectivelywithcontractors,engineers,projectmanagers,andclients
