Job summary

Federal Equipment Company, now part of Fairbanks Morse Defense, seeks a Certified Weld Inspector to perform Level II visual inspections of welds and oversee third-party NDT inspections in our inspection lab and manufacturing environments. You will interpret weld symbols, engage with engineering prints, and prepare detailed VT reports under NOFORN restrictions.

The role requires excellent reading comprehension, strong math/physics related to welding, and the ability to coordinate multiple

Qualifications

• Current Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification (AWS).
• NAVSEA weld inspector – NDT Level II preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and GD&T.
• Strong math and physics related to welding.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and handle physical tasks.
• Experience with VT/NDT inspections and writing clear reports.

Responsibilities

• Routinely perform Level II Visual Inspection of Welds.
• Oversee 3rd party NDT inspections as needed.
• Interpret weld symbols on engineering prints and GD&T requirements.
• Prepare VT reports and maintain documentation records.
• Visit suppliers to perform VT and dimensional inspections as needed.
• Assist in developing Weld and NDT procedures/programs.
