Job summary

GTI Fabrication is seeking a dedicated Quality Weld Inspector to ensure welded components meet internal standards. The role emphasizes visual and non-destructive inspections, adherence to AWS and ASME codes, and documentation accuracy.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of welding inspection experience, with a strong ability to read welding symbols and interpret technical drawings. Training and safety are emphasized in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3–5 years of weld inspection experience in manufacturing.
  • Deep understanding of AWS D1.1, ASME IX, and other welding codes.
  • Proficient in visual inspection and common NDT methods (PT, MT preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections on welded components using visual, dimensional, and non-destructive testing methods in accordance with AWS, ASME, and other relevant codes.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical documentation.
  • Verify WPS and PQR compliance.
  • Conduct and document welder qualification tests and maintain certification records.
  • Identify welding defects and non-conformities; issue NCRs and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and contribute to quality reports.
  • Collaborate with welding, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Provide coaching and technical guidance to welders to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Ensure safety and compliance in all inspection activities.

GTI Fabrication is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Weld Inspector to ensure welded components meet internal and external quality standards. This role plays a critical part in verifying weld quality through visual and non‑destructive inspections while supporting GTI’s commitment to precision, safety, and compliance across all welded assemblies.

The ideal candidate will have strong welding inspection experience, knowledge of industry standards, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform inspections on welded components using visual, dimensional, and non‑destructive testing methods in accordance with AWS, ASME, and other relevant codes
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and technical documentation
  • Verify WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications) and PQR (Procedure Qualification Records) compliance
  • Conduct and document welder qualification tests and maintain certification records
  • Identify welding defects and non‑conformities; issue NCRs and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and contribute to quality reports
  • Collaborate with welding, engineering, and production teams to resolve issues and improve processes

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Understanding AWS standards. Will train
  • 3‑5 years of weld inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Deep understanding of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and other relevant welding codes
  • Proficient in visual inspection and common NDT methods (PT, MT preferred)
  • Strong documentation, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical training in welding or engineering
  • Experience with NDT Level II (UT, RT)
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or high‑precision manufacturing
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Comfortable working in manufacturing and shop‑floor environments with PPE
  • May require climbing ladders or accessing confined spaces for inspection
