Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Welding Inspector to read welding drawings and procedures, fully inspect weldments, and document VT reports and weld maps. You will identify nonconformances, communicate with supervisors, and maintain certification documentation in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication and US citizenship are required, with multiple inspection years as a plus. The role demands adherence to safety procedures and precise use of measuring tools, with opportunities to advance VT

Qualifications

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Education: GED/HS Diploma or Technical Degree.
  • 1–3 years welding experience preferred.
  • 6+ years welding inspection experience required.
  • 3+ years dimensional inspection experience required.
  • AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II required.
  • ASNT VT Level II certification in-house within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret welding drawings and welding procedures.
  • Perform full weld inspections and document results (VT reports, weld maps).
  • Identify weld discontinuities and communicate nonconformances to supervisors.
  • Maintain material certifications and inspection documentation.
  • Label nonconforming parts and use calibrated measuring equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to safety procedures and work in a fast-paced environment.

Functions and Responsibilities:Read and interpret basic drawings, weld procedure specifications (WPS), and welding symbolsAble to identify weld discontinuitiesBasic understanding of weld acceptance criteriaBasic weld inspection tool usage: fillet gauge, V-WAC gauge, combination square, protractor, caliper, tape measure, flashlight, mirror, magnifying glass, temperature crayonAbility to answer welding-related questions or know where to direct questionsFully inspect weldments and sub-weldmentsDocument results of inspections, including VT reports and weld mapsComprehend the introduction to First Article Inspection (FAIs)Communicate welding nonconformances to Welding Supervisor, Welding Trainer, Welder Development Coordinator, Lead Weld InspectorMaintain material certifications and inspection documentationLabel nonconforming partsUse calibrated measuring equipment where applicableFollow all safety proceduresAbility to work in a fast-paced environment is requiredGood verbal and written communication skills is requiredMinimum Requirements of Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:Must be a US citizen.Education:GED/High School Diploma/Technical DegreeExperience:1-3 Years welding - preferred6+ Years welding inspection experience - required3+ Years of dimensional inspection experience - requiredSpecialized Experience:AWS CWI or ASNT VT Level II – requiredAbility to be certified to ASNT VT Level II in-house within 30 days of hirePhysical Demands:The physical demands described below are representatives of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
