Job Description

Position Purpose: The Operator II maintains water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment to meet permit and operational requirements.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

1. Operate the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) safely and efficiently across all shifts.
2. Perform basic preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure compliance during assigned shifts.
3. Assist the maintenance team with distribution system and water treatment plant operations as needed.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: High school diploma or GED, effective communication skills, basic math skills, and at least 1 year of related experience in water treatment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in PPE use, operation of treatment equipment, troubleshooting, computer skills for process control, teamwork, emergency response, and willingness to work extended hours.

Required Certifications/Licenses/Training: Valid driver’s license, passing drug and background checks, and an intermediate level water/wastewater treatment certificate (minimum Class C wastewater license for Florida).
