Job summary

Lowell Road Veterinary Center in Hudson, NH seeks a Certified Veterinary Technician - Physical Therapy to join a busy, multi-doctor hospital offering comprehensive animal care. This full-time role focuses on rehab modalities, client education, and collaborative care within a dynamic team.

Rotating weekends are required, and the position provides ongoing training, development opportunities, and competitive compensation for licensed or eligible rehab technicians.

Qualifications

  • Must hold an active veterinary technician license or have 3–4 years of experience with VTNE eligibility.
  • Rehab certification preferred (CCRP/CCRT) or minimum 1 year working as a rehab technician.
  • Rotating weekend availability is required.
  • Ability to carry out therapeutic exercises and train patients in exercises.
  • Utilize rehab modalities including class IV laser, therapeutic ultrasound, E-stim and underwater treadmill.
  • Maintain medical records on rehab appointments.
  • Effective communication with DVM and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases.
  • Administration of medications and monitoring of treatment plans with clients.
  • Surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management as needed.
  • Assist rehab DVM with evaluations, sedated procedures, or orthopedic radiographs.
  • Assist in maintenance of rehab equipment and space.

Lowell Road Veterinary Center is a state of the art, multi-doctor veterinary hospital that offers personal, progressive, and comprehensive animal care to dogs, cats, and pocket pets in the Hudson, New Hampshire. We understand all the different ways your pet communicates love and trust. Our hospital offers many services including annual wellness care, anesthesia and sedation, dentistry, internal medicine, laser therapy, in‑house pharmacy, surgery, urgent/immediate care, rehabilitation services, and acupuncture.

We are ready with a positive, experienced support staff and excellent clientele and well equipped with ultrasound, underwater treadmill therapy, massage therapy, digital radiography, dental x-ray, and a complete in‑house laboratory. We also have our sister hospital 25 minutes down the road in Bedford, New Hampshire, Bedford Veterinary Medical Center.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Animal restraint, triage of incoming patients, collection and analysis of lab samples, diagnostic imaging, management, and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability, administration of medications, effective communication of treatment plans with clients, surgical preparation and assistance, and anesthetic management.

Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases.

  • Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license or 3 - 4 years veterinary technician experience, ideally with eligibility to take the VTNE and become licensed.
  • Rehab certification (CCRP, CCRT or equivalent) preferred, or minimum of 1 year working as a rehab technician.
  • Rotating weekend availability is required.
  • Ability to carry out therapeutic exercises. Must be able to train and assist patients in performing exercises, monitor for proper technique and for signs of fatigue.
  • Utilize modalities including class IV laser, therapeutic ultrasound, E‑stim and underwater treadmill.
  • Teach clients how to perform home exercises as part of home exercise program.
  • Maintain medical records on rehab appointments.
  • Physically demanding position. Must be able to get up and down from floor easily, bend over, lift 40–50 lbs.
  • Utilize fear free approaches in patient handling.
  • Assist in maintenance of rehab equipment and space.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with DVM about patient progress and any concerns.
  • Be able to effectively and compassionately communicate with clients.
  • As needed, assist rehab DVM with evaluations, sedated procedures, or orthopedic radiographs.
