Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health, Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, is hiring an Emergency/ICU Veterinary Technician. This role offers a competitive hourly wage from $20 to $35, plus a $1,000 sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package for a fast-paced ER/ICU team.

Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital seeks a skilled CVT/LVT/RVT who can support hospitalized and emergency patients, triage cases, and assist in advanced procedures in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • CVT/LVT/RVT eligible required.
  • 1+ year experience in a small animal hospital preferred.
  • Emergency or critical care experience a plus.
  • Strong technical nursing skills including restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency, critical care, hospitalized, and specialty patients.
  • Triage incoming emergency patients and assess patient status quickly.
  • Place IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, and calculate doses.
  • Assist with patient stabilization and CPR.
  • Monitor vitals and communicate findings to the attending veterinarian.

Veterinary Technician, Emergency - CVT/LVT/RVT | $20–$35/hr | Sign-On Bonus Offered

Location: Portsmouth, NH

Schedule: Full-Time | Three 12‑hour shifts per week

Compensation: $20–$35/hour + $1,000 Sign‑On Bonus

We’re seeking a skilled, compassionate Veterinary Technician to support our ER/ICU team in delivering exceptional care to hospitalized and emergency patients in a fast‑paced specialty environment.

Compensation Details
  • $20–$35 per hour, based on experience, skills, and credentials
  • $5/hour shift differential for hours worked between 12:00am–7:00am

Schedule
  • Three 12‑hour shifts per week
  • Includes one weekend shift
  • Two holidays per year
  • Participation in on‑call rotation as needed
Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional nursing care to emergency, critical care, hospitalized, and specialty patients including surgical, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, and urgent care cases
  • Triage incoming emergency patients and assess patient status quickly and efficiently
  • Place IV catheters, administer medications and fluids, and perform accurate dosage calculations
  • Assist with patient stabilization and support life‑saving procedures, including CPR
  • Collect diagnostic samples and assist with imaging and patient monitoring
  • Induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation for emergency and specialty procedures
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records
  • Monitor patient vitals, identify changes in condition, and communicate findings promptly to the attending veterinarian
  • Educate clients at discharge regarding medications, home‑care instructions, and follow‑up recommendations with empathy and clarity
  • Support a collaborative, team‑focused hospital environment while contributing to daily workflow and patient care priorities
Qualifications
  • CVT / LVT / RVT or VTNE eligible required
  • 1+ years of experience in a small animal hospital setting preferred
  • Emergency or critical care experience is a plus
  • Strong technical skills including patient restraint, venipuncture, catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, and nursing care
  • Ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast‑paced emergency veterinary environment
