Job description

CityVet Sterling Grove is looking for Certified Veterinary Technicians to join our team! The Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) is responsible for maintaining excellent patient care and operational productivity by helping the Veterinarian leverage their time and efforts to meet the needs of their clients and patients. The CVT works to relieve the Veterinarian from technical work and administrative detail, achieving greater efficiency in daily practice. Certified Veterinary Technicians help facilitate and streamline communication from the operating room to the front office staff and the client.

Essential Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age at the time of hire
• At least 1 year of veterinary industry experience
• Must hold a valid State License as Certified Veterinary Technician
• Must be able to properly and safely restrain animals
• Knowledgeable in veterinary medical terminology and medication

A Day In The Life

• Assists the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental surgeries, including preparing clients for surgery by assisting in administering anesthesia and properly restraining the animals as needed for examination and treatment.
• Supervises unlicensed team members completing tasks such as suturing to close existing skin incisions and skin lacerations, inducing anesthesia, drawing blood, and taking samples for lab testing purposes.
• Under direct supervision of a Veterinarian, the CVT may: suture to close existing surgical skin incisions and skin lacerations, induce anesthesia, administer rabies vaccine, extract loose teeth or dental fragments in dogs and cats only, and perform euthanasia.
