Job summary

Thrive Pet Healthcare - Oak Lawn is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician or experienced veterinary assistant for a part-time role in Oak Lawn, IL. The schedule includes weekday coverage from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and rotational Saturdays (1–2 per month) with shifts from 8:00 a.m.

to 3:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. Compensation ranges from $18 to $20 per hour, with responsibilities including assisting veterinarians, maintaining medical records, and supporting client education and pet health

Qualifications

• Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or CVT-eligible; CVT student or experienced assistants encouraged.
• 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Team player with flexible schedule.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with state Veterinary Practice Act.
• Maintain medical records and assist with client communications.

We are looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician or experienced veterinary assistant to join us as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

Role Responsibilities:

• Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
• With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
• Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act
• Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Thrive Membership options, medications, and additional treatments.
• Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
• Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
• Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements:

• Certified Veterinary Technician-CVT, CVT eligible, CVT student preferred; experienced veterinary assistants encouraged to apply
• 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred
