Job summary

Family Pet Clinic of Newberg is seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to support outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry, in a fast-paced general practice.

You will work hands-on with dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, and other exotics, maintain detailed records, and partner with a caring team to deliver high-quality medicine, client education, and compassionate patient care.

Qualifications

  • Active and good-standing Certified Veterinary Technician in Oregon.
  • 4+ years of veterinary technician experience.
  • Proficiency in anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Surgical assistance and aseptic technique.
  • Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography.
  • Venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
  • Radiology positioning and safety protocols.
  • Medication administration and drug calculations.
  • Laboratory sample collection and in-house diagnostic testing.
  • Accurate medical record documentation.
  • Safe, low-stress patient handling and restraint techniques.
  • Client education and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Support efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows.

Job description

Family Pet Clinic of Newberg is seeking an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry.

We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a fast-paced general practice environment balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands‑on procedural support. In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to work hands‑on with a diverse range of patients, including dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, and other exotic species.

We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. You’ll play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout each patient visit.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
  • Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, assisting, and recovery
  • Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
  • Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
  • Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately

This role is ideal for technicians who enjoy variety in their day, are confident moving between exam room and procedure support, and want to fully utilize their clinical knowledge, technical skillset, and client communication abilities in a collaborative general practice environment.

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $ 28 - $31 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position, with a 4/10 schedule and availability needed Monday-Friday with a rotating Saturday. Saturday shifts are generally scheduled every other Saturday, with the possibility of working two consecutive Saturdays based on scheduling needs.

Full-time Benefits Package*:

  • Bonus package: $2000 based on active, good-standing veterinary technician credentials in the state of [state]

Minimum qualifications and skill set:

  • 4+ years of veterinary technician experience
  • Active and good-standingCertified Veterinary Technician in the state of Oregon **
  • Proficiency in the following skills:

**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
