Overview

Companion Animal Hospital of Kenosha is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team!
CVTs experienced in surgery are highly encouraged to apply!
Location: 4415 52nd Street Kenosha, WI 53144
We are a four DVM hospital with the latest in diagnostic, medical, and surgical capabilities! We are a teaching hospital and welcome any level of experience. Leadership and training opportunities are available!
We serve Kenosha, Pleasant Prairie, Racine, Zion, Mount Pleasant, Union Grove, Winthrop Harbor, Beach Park, Bristol, Sturtevant, and more!

Compensation

$23-27/hour

Shift Details

This is a full-time position, four-day work week, with every third Saturday required.
Clinic hours: Monday-Wednesday 8am-7pm, Thursday 8am-6pm, Friday 8am-7pm, Saturday 8am-12pm.

Job Summary

The Certified Veterinary Technician provides leadership and training to support staff, ensures medical care in accordance with hospital policy, and communicates effectively with team and clients. Attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Maintain and uphold MVP’s Core Values and Mission
• Guide support staff to ensure smooth shift flow
• Mentor team members for career and personal growth
• Contribute to performance evaluations
• Provide patient care under DVM supervision
• Maintain excellent client communication
• Accurately record medical and client information
• Review records and discharge instructions with clients
• Respond to client inquiries confidently and appropriately

Additional Functions

• Assist with scheduling, payments, and client check-in
• Answer phones courteously
• Contribute feedback to training programs
• Participate in job shadows or interviews as needed

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills
• Patience and composure in stressful situations
• Calmness during medical crises
• Ability to give SQ, IM, IV injections
• Knowledge of prescription drugs, their usage, dosage, and side effects
• Understanding of anesthesia and recovery states
• Ability to monitor anesthesia and patient recovery
• Reasoning, memory, math, and language skills
• Confidence around pets

Required Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• State licensing required
• 1+ years of veterinary experience

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 50+ pounds
• Endure long periods on hard surfaces
• Work in noisy environments with pets and equipment
• Exposure to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, medications
• Good hearing, vision, hand-eye coordination, and dexterity

Travel

Minimal, possibly for vendor visits and training
