Job summary

Beaufort County School District is seeking certified tutors to provide intensive and extensive tutorial services for identified students at River Ridge Academy. Responsibilities include one-on-one or group tutoring, collaboration with teachers, and maintaining progress records.

Prior tutoring experience is preferred; candidates should be patient, motivated, and able to adapt to diverse learners. Position is part-time/temporary and located at River Ridge Academy.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid teaching certificate or proof of retirement from teaching.
• Prior tutorial experience preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of children.
• Ability to work with others.
• Willingness to follow directions.
• Ability to handle unforeseen situations and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Provides academic assistance to assigned students, either in a group setting or one-on-one, as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Collaborates with the classroom teacher to assess selected students and develop effective methods of tutorial service delivery.
• Maintains records on each tutored student, including follow-up and periodic evaluation of progress.
• Assists students in understanding specific subject material and helps them develop study skills.
• Helps students develop motivation and self-confidence in academic work and serves as a role model.
• Assists in designing and implementing cooperative group projects as needed.
• Attends periodic training sessions to enhance tutoring competency.
