Job summary

Norwood Elementary School in Norwood, NC seeks a Title I Tutor (Certified) to provide targeted tutoring and academic support for students. The role is part-time (19.5 hours/week) and temporary through May 31, 2027, reporting to the Principal.

The tutor must hold a valid NC teaching license and will work to improve student outcomes by focusing on designated subject areas and study skills, under general supervision.

Qualifications

• Certified: Must hold valid NC teaching license.
• Experience in tutoring or instructional support preferred.
• Ability to follow school procedures and emergencies.
• Ability to motivate and engage students.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually
• Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying
• Help students develop self-confidence, raise self-concept, and reduce anxiety or fear of failure in academic work
• Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success
• Establish and maintain rapport with the assigned student(s)
• Serve as a role model for students being served
