Job summary

Bond Health in Brooklyn seeks a Teacher's Assistant to support the classroom under the supervision of a teacher and provide personal care to children. The role requires a Level 1 TA certification, fingerprinting, TEACH registration, and completion of mandated safety courses.

Pre-employment testing and background checks are required. The TA will assist with daily activities, supervise students, and perform clerical tasks while maintaining data and progress notes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold Level 1 Certified TA or higher.
• 6 months experience as a TA is preferred.
• Must be fingerprinted by the Board of Education and Department of Investigation, costs paid by candidate.
• Must be registered on the TEACH website.
• Certified completion of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse courses.
• Pre-employment Physical Exam within one year with PPD, MMR, TDAP and Varicella; documentation required.
• A $25 money order for background check, paid by candidate.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical and programmatic aid to children where assigned.
• Assists with program plans and preparations and supervision of children.
• Performs clerical tasks such as collating, folding, typing, laminating and answering phones.
• Participates in case conferences as needed.
• Ensures services respect children's dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
• Provides program support/coverage and maintains data collection and progress notes.
• Assists with toileting, feeding and outer clothing of children as needed; participates in activities outside the classroom.
