• Middle School or High School Certification in Special Education or one of these content areas: Reading, Math, Science, Health, P.E., English or Social Studies

Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicates these objectives to students
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media
• Strives to implement the district's philosophy of educational and instructional goals and objectives
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports
• Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
• Maintains accurate records as required by law, policy and regulation
• Assists administration in policy implementation and maintains classroom conduct and procedures
• Makes provisions for being available to students and parents outside instructional day
• Plans and supervises assignments for aides and volunteers, evaluates their performance
• Maintains professional competence and attends staff meetings and committees
• Evaluates students' progress as required by Board policy
