Job Goals

To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Essential Functions
  1. Meet and instruct assigned classes at the designated times and locations.
  2. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  3. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
  4. Prepare for classes and show evidence of preparation upon request.
  5. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  6. Guide the learning process towards curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for lessons, projects, etc., communicating these to students.
  7. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the location and student needs.
  8. Implement the district's educational philosophy and goals through instruction and action.
  9. Assess student progress regularly and provide reports as required.
  10. Diagnose learning disabilities and report progress accordingly.
  11. Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
  13. Assist in implementing policies on student life and conduct; develop classroom rules and maintain order fairly.
  14. Be available to students and parents outside instructional hours as needed.
  15. Supervise and evaluate teacher aides and volunteers, and plan their assignments.
  16. Maintain and improve professional competence through ongoing development.
  17. Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
Physical Demands

This role may involve lifting objects over 40 pounds and carrying objects up to 20 pounds. Other physical requirements include preparation for duties and mobility as needed.

Adaptability in performing various duties, dealing with people, and making judgments based on sensory or evaluative criteria.

Capacity and Ability Requirements

Ability to discipline and manage students effectively.
