Responsibilities
- Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and certified Tax Preparer to join our team. The Certified Tax Preparer will be responsible for accurately preparing and filing tax returns for individuals and businesses, ensuring compliance with tax laws and maximizing tax deductions and credits for clients.
- Conduct comprehensive interviews with clients to gather relevant tax information and documents for tax return preparation.
- Prepare and file accurate federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships.
- Utilize tax preparation software to input and analyze client data, calculate tax liabilities, and generate tax forms and schedules.
- Stay updated on changes to tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements to ensure compliance and optimize tax outcomes for clients.
- Provide expert tax advice and guidance to clients on various tax matters, including deductions, credits, and tax planning strategies.
- Communicate with tax authorities, respond to tax notices and inquiries, and represent clients in tax audits and appeals.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in handling sensitive client information and tax documents.
- Collaborate with team members to streamline tax preparation processes and improve overall efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Certified Tax Preparer designation or equivalent certification required.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in tax preparation, preferably in a public accounting firm or tax preparation service.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., TurboTax, TaxAct) and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
