Job summary

Sage YMCA in Crystal Lake, IL is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to deliver group and private lessons, uphold safety standards, and maintain participant progress records. You will teach according to YMCA curricula, ensure high-quality instruction, and support a welcoming environment for members and guests.

The role requires current YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor certification (or completion of the YMCA Aquatics Academy), plus CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certifications.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Current certification YMCA Swim Lessons or ARC Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Oxygen certification or complete YMCA Aquatics Academy.
• Physically able to rescue a 200 lb person and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Implements YMCA swim curricula for levels and populations per YMCA standards.
• Prepares progressive lesson plans to enhance participant experience.
• Maintains attendance records, skills sheets, progress reports, and Certificates of Achievement.
• Enforces pool rules and supervises class activities.
• Acts as a secondary responder for injuries or emergencies and supports lifeguards as needed.
• Notifies supervisor of unsafe equipment or conditions; sets up and stores equipment.
