Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL, seeks an experienced Surgical Tech to support operating room teams. The role emphasizes anticipating surgeon needs, maintaining sterile technique, and preparing instruments and supplies for procedures.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Anticipates surgeon needs and informs circulating nurse throughout procedures.
• Assembles supplies, equipment, and medications before procedures.
• Maintains aseptic technique and monitors surroundings for compliance with standards.
• Supports staff, physicians, and management; addresses complaints promptly.
• Handles instruments and supplies efficiently during surgeries.

Job Description

Up to $7,500 Sign-on Bonus and $3,000 Relocation Assistance available to eligible candidates (see terms below)

Terms: 12-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility

• One (1) year of applicable experience
• Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible

Relocation Eligibility

• Must live 50 miles outside of campus address
• Rehires that are less than 12 months from separation date are not eligible

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon and keeps the circulating nurse informed throughout a procedure.
• Maintains high standards and quality in facilitating cost savings and containment.
• Assembles all necessary supplies, equipment, and medications prior to the procedure.
• Supports customer and employee satisfaction activities; maintains good relationships with physicians, management, other departments, and staff; and responds to complaints in a timely manner.
• Monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team and takes immediate corrective action for any breaks in technique.
• Identifies and reports environmental concerns to management and ensures adherence to regulatory standards and policies.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking, and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements. [Required]
• Basic skills related to aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation. [Required]
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the healthcare industry. [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies to hand surgeons the correct tools during surgeries. [Required]
• Up-to-date knowledge of regulatory requirements and laws at various jurisdictional levels. [Required]
• Ability to understand and process surgeon dictated instructions and directions. [Required]
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office. [Required]
• Ability to consistently demonstrate clear communication skills, strong anticipatory skills, and concentration to detail. [Required]
• Assembly of mechanical devices and knowledge of fundamental human anatomy. [Required]
• Must be able to work well with multiple team members. [Required]
• Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule and adapt to change. [Required]
• Organizational skills, customer relations, verbal and interpersonal skills. [Required]
• Proficiency in grammar/spelling, and the ability to read/comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions. [Required]
