Job summary

UPMC is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic surgical team. You will scrub in, assist with patient transfer, maintain sterile supplies, and help ensure efficient turnover between procedures in a fast-paced operating room.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, OR technician training, and CST certification. BLS and act as needed compliance are expected; weekend/on-call availability may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Operating Room Technician course completion preferred.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient transfer/transportation.
• Inventories, orders, and restocks supplies.
• Maintains and ensures cleanliness of sterile supplies and the surgical suite.
• Keeps inventory of patient and unit supplies and stores them properly.
• Communicates patient care issues with RN, NA, Nurse Manager and ancillary staff.
• Supports efficient turnover between procedures.
• Charges for supplies and equipment.
• Demonstrates cost containment and conservation of supplies and equipment.

We are currently offering a generous a sign-on bonus between $10,000- $25,000 for Surgical Technologist positions. The amount of the bonus depends on your experience and commitment length-a fantastic opportunity to be rewarded for your expertise!

Responsibilities:

• Assists with patient transfer/transportation.

• Inventories, orders, and restocks supplies.

• Assists in maintenance, care, and cleanliness of surgical supplies, equipment, and surgical suite.

• Maintains an adequate inventory of patient and unit supplies and stores these appropriately.

• Exchanges information about patient care issues or unit operations with Registered Nurse, Nursing Assistant, Nurse Manager, and ancillary departments.

• Assists in executing efficient turnover time between procedures.

• Charges for supplies and equipment.

• Demonstrates responsibility for cost containment and conservation of supplies and equipment.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, either 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts. 6:30AM 3PM, 6:30AM-5PM, or 8:30AM-7PM. Must also be available for off shifts/on-call shifts. Must be able to work weekends or holidays as needed. May be subject to work different days/shifts based on hospital needs.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

• Previous Operating Room Technician experience preferred.

• Certified Surgical Technologists- Cardiovascular Operating Room (CST-CVOR) is preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Completion of Operating Room Technician course.

• BLS certification or achievement within thirty (30) days of employment required.
