Job summary

Great Falls Clinic Hospital in Great Falls, MT is seeking a Surgical Tech to maintain the sterile field and assist the surgical team during complex vascular and cardiothoracic procedures, including open heart cases.

The role requires 2–3 years CVOR experience and certification, with 1–2 years in other specialties preferred. Duties include turnover, instrument care, and collaboration with OR staff.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or Surgical Tech program.
• 2-3 years as a CVOR Certified Surgical Tech, required.
• 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Tech in other specialties (General, Ortho, Urology, ENT, GYN, etc.), preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the sterile field in the operating room and ensure aseptic technique.
• Assist the surgical team by passing instruments, sutures, and sponges during complex vascular, cardiovascular, and cardiothoracic procedures.
• Assist with prompt turnover of surgical cases, case setup and proper care of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Receive direction from OR RN, Providers, Anesthesia Providers, and Nursing Manager; give direction to Instrument Processor.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Responsible for maintaining the sterile field in the operating room, being constantly vigilant to see that proper aseptic techniques are utilized to prevent contamination and infection. Required to assist the surgical team as the sterile member who passes instruments, sutures, and sponges during complex vascular, cardiovascular, and cardiothoracic procedures. To include open heart procedures. Assists with prompt turnover of surgical cases, case setup and proper care of surgical instruments and equipment. Performs delegated patient care duties. Receives direction from: Operating Room RN, Providers, Anesthesia Providers, and Nursing Manager. Gives direction to: Instrument Processor.

EDUCATION:

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or Surgical Tech program

EXPERIENCE:

• 2-3 years as a CVOR Certified Surgical Tech, required
• 1-2 years of experience as a Certified Surgical Tech in other specialties (General, Ortho, Urology, ENT, GYN, etc.), preferred.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Certification from an accredited Surgical Tech Program
• BLS or obtain within 6 months of hire

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

• Basic medical terminology and anatomy, asepsis, and sterile technique.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills
• Use of usual and customer equipment used to perform essential functions of the position
