Job description

Role Overview

This Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – CVOR role is based in Salem, VA at a 500+ bed acute care hospital with a designated Heart Center specializing in heart and vascular care, orthopedics and spine, behavioral health, and cancer care.

Responsibilities

• The CST will work primarily in the cardiovascular operating room, scrubbing C-sections and maintaining command of the surgical instrumentation required for those procedures.
• The position requires registering and pre-registering obstetric patients, processing patient information, and performing infant testing tasks as directed by the Registered Nurse.
• The technologist is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the physical environment and equipment throughout each case.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology program required (or grandfathered in by the state of Virginia)
• Active Surgical Technician license with the State of Virginia required
• BLS certification required within 90 days of employment start date
• Knowledge of medical terminology required
• 1–2 years of scrub or hospital experience preferred
• Ability to frequently stand, bend, reach, squat, kneel, and lift patients and/or equipment up to 50 pounds
