Job summary

Texas Health Fort Worth in Fort Worth, TX seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for the Operating Room. This full-time, day-shift role (36 hours/week) offers a sign-on bonus and opportunities to work with high-acuity cases in a Level I trauma setting.

Qualified candidates will have CST credentials and completion of an accredited surgical technology program; LVN options and BCLS certification may be considered in various pathways.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; prior practice in a healthcare facility before 9/1/2009.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program; military or vocational nurse program.
• Graduate of an accredited program within 2 years of hire.
• LVN license upon hire is required
• BCLS certification required prior to independent patient care
• 1 year OR experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcomes.
• Assist peri-operative care coordination and support RN circulator.
• Support peri-operative care for infants to geriatrics; aid in plan of care.
• Post-operatively assist with instrument care and RN circulator duties

Here’s What You Need

Education

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Required
• Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Required
• Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Preferred

Experience

• 1 Year of current operating room experience Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire Required Or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1,2009 Or
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology within 2 years of hire Or
• LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Required AND
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

What You Will Do

• Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
• Assists as needed in coordinating patient care Peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Assists in providing Peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics. Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
