Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST Specialist) for the Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery in Plano, TX. This PRN role supports the surgical team, helps prepare patients, organize the operating room, and assist in peri-operative care across age groups.

Qualified candidates have CST certification (NBSTSA/NCCT) and a background in surgical technology. Monday–Friday shifts, no weekends, and opportunities for growth are highlighted in this team-focused

Qualifications

• CST experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program or equivalent.
• CST certification required upon hire or eligible for hire with prior CST licensure.

Responsibilities

• Preoperatively assists RN circulator in formulating plan of care.
• Prepare and organize the operating room.
• Provide peri-operative care for patients across age groups.
• Coordinate patient care peri-operatively as needed.
• Maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively aids in instrument and supply handling.

Work Hours: PRN (As Needed) - Monday & Tuesday Availability Preferred.

Here’s What You Need

• High School Diploma or equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, required or
• Other – Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, vocational nurse program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology required,
• 1 year of current CST experience preferred.
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist/ CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) upon hire required or
• CST – Certified Surgical Technologist CST (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, upon hire required or
• LVN – Licensed Vocational Nurse upon hire required and
• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly upon hire required

What You Will Do

• Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating a plan of care.
• Prepare and organize the operating room.
• Assists in providing peri-operative care for a patient population that includes infants, pediatrics, adults, and geriatrics.
• Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
• Post-operatively follows proper procedures for the care of instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Under supervision, assists RN circulators with post-operative duties.
