HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Performs surgical procedures and other duties related to preparing and maintaining the operating room (O.R.) environment and assisting with patients’ peri-operative care. Develops and promotes surgical technology and practice standards, within and outside the operating and procedural rooms. Assumes additional duties of an assistant service line leader for one or more surgical specialties. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) developing new procedures and/or instrumentation training; mentoring and supporting new staff members as a preceptor; providing leadership in problem solving within a collaborative team framework; and actively participating in unit quality assurance, lean, and best practice initiatives. Works in partnership with the service line team, RN/Assistant Nurse Manager or RN/Nurse Manager, surgeon, materials management, and preference card coordinator to ensure preference cards are accurate and up-to-date; an orientation/developmental plan is provided to develop competent colleagues; and that efficiency efforts are in place to meet departmental goals and expectations.

Registered Nurse (RN)/Assistant Nurse Manager (JC 030303) or RN/Nurse Manager (JC 031001)

None

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of a Surgical Technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)

Required Experience:

Two (2) years of surgical technologist experience

Preferred Experience:

Two (2) years of O.R. experience required; five (5) years of O.R. experience preferred. OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Good interpersonal skills (to allow interaction with and direction of other colleagues). Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel applications. Ability to scrub independently all cases within the assigned service line.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
