Job summary

UnityPoint Health seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist I to support the operating room and patient preparation, deploying sterile technique throughout procedures. You will anticipate surgeon needs, assist during surgery, and maintain instrumentation and supplies under supervision of surgeons and perioperative team members.

The role emphasizes infection control, safety compliance, and ongoing professional development within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited surgical technology program.
• Associates degree preferred.
• NBSTSA or NCCT certification within 1 year of hire.
• Current BLS certification.
• Valid driver’s license when driving for work-related reasons.
• Fluent English in speaking and writing.

Responsibilities

• Assists in maintaining sterile fields and aseptic technique.
• Prepares and positions equipment and supplies for surgery.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and assists in procedures.
• Performs patient prep and post-op support as directed.
• Stock OR/PACU and ensures quality of supplies on hand.
• Performs daily checks of crash carts, refrigerators and carts.
• Acts as preceptor in operating room teams.
