Job description

Responsibilities

• Primary scrub person who handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary prior to and during the surgical procedure.
• Provides technical assistance during procedures in the operating room.
• Performs patient care within prevailing national and state standards of practice and the policies of the facility.
• May have additional responsibilities as designated by the OR Manager, including patient care in other areas.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon based on an understanding of the procedures being performed.
• Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and remains vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field.
• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.
• Ensures scrubs and donning of gowns and gloves are completed.
• Sets up a sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
• Performs appropriate counts with the circulator before incision is closed.
• Assists in draping the sterile field.
• Passe instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures.
• Maintains the highest standard of sterile techniques during procedures.
• Prepares sterile dressings.
• Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization.
• Assists other members of the team with terminal cleaning of rooms.
• Assists in preparing the room for the next patient.

Requirements

• High School diploma.
• Completion of an approved surgical technologist course.

• Certified as a Surgical Technologist and BLS certification.

Compensation & Benefits

Base pay range: $33.64 – $49.98 per hour, based on minimum job qualifications.
