Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to facilitate safe surgical procedures at Henry Ford St John Hospital in Detroit. The role involves preparation of surgical suites and assisting surgeons with instruments.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within a month of hire, and will need to be credentialed as a Surgical Tech. The position offers a sign-on bonus of $7,500 and a rotating schedule of 36 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience with surgical procedures is required.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
• Surgical Tech credentialing from NCCT or NBSTSA is required.

Job description

General Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

• Prepares surgical operating suite with sterile drapes and sterile solutions as well as appropriate sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hands required/requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintains instruments in an organized manner and monitors/tracks instruments counts throughout procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
