Job summary

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgery Center, Greater Heights is seeking a PRN Certified Surgical Technologist to join our fast-paced ASC team. Weekdays only with no holidays, weekends, or on-call; some evenings may be required as cases dictate.

Under supervision, the Surgical Tech scrubs for procedures, maintains supplies and equipment, and supports quality improvement initiatives to deliver high-quality patient care in a collaborative surgical environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completed surgical technician program or 2+ years of surgical tech experience.
• Certification required for all Surg Tech graduates after 2009; ambulatory center experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and patient management.

Responsibilities

• Scrub for surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing.
• Prepare and maintain supplies, instruments and equipment for procedures.
• Support the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center.
• Participate in quality improvement activities as part of the surgical team.

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures. Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center. Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.

Required Skills

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or previous surgical technician experience of at least two years.
• Experience in Eyes
• Certification required for all Surg Tech graduates after 2009
• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
• Must possess a strong knowledge of surgical procedures and management of the surgical patient
• Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation
• Ability to quickly adapt to changing condition of the patient when needed
• Must be an excellent team player and have the ability to communicate with staff, patients and physicians
