Job summary

TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN, is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join the OR team. The CST works under the direct supervision of the OR nurse, assisting in intra-operative patient care and performing technical duties as assigned. The CST may be cross-trained for Endoscopy.

No travel is required; this role supports Horizon's mission of compassionate care and participates in performance improvement activities to ensure quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification or BCLS Instructor within 30 days of employment start date

Responsibilities

• Assists the OR nurse in assessing patient needs during the intra-operative phase.
• Performs technical duties as assigned and ensures sterile technique.
• Cross-trained/ oriented to Endoscopy and participates in Performance Improvement activities.

Certified Surgical Technologist

The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) is an active member of the nursing team in the Operating Room. The CST functions under the direct supervision of the OR nurse. He/she is responsible for assisting the OR nurse in assessing the needs of the patients, infancy through life span, and for organizing and planning care sufficient to meet identified needs during the intra-operative phase, by performing technical duties as assigned. The surgical scrub tech will be cross-trained/oriented to Endoscopy. The CST may be asked to precept/mentor other individuals within their realm of expertise.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains appropriate awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Horizon
