Job summary

St. David's Georgetown Hospital in Georgetown, Texas is seeking a Certified Obstetric Surgical Technologist to join the Labor and Delivery team for weekend night shifts.

You will prepare the surgical suite, support the team during obstetric procedures, and ensure sterile technique and patient safety throughout the procedure. The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to detail, and delivering compassionate care to mothers and newborns.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program OR military training in Surgical Technology.
  • If not meeting the aforementioned requirements: was employed to practice Surgical Technology in a health care facility before 9/1/09.
  • Surgical Technologists graduating after Sept 1, 2009 must hold a current certification within 180 days from graduation from one of the approved certifying bodies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the surgical suite and organize instruments, equipment, and supplies for safe, efficient procedures.
  • Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining comfort, privacy, and safety.
  • Provide instruments, equipment, and hands-on support to the surgical team during obstetric procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile field, perform counts, and ensure instruments and equipment function properly.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care and a seamless surgical experience.

Education

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Graduate of accredited Surgical Technology program OR military training in Surgical Technology
Experience if not meeting requirements: prior surgical technology practice before 9/1/09

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Preparing the surgical suite and organizing instruments, equipment, and supplies to support safe, efficient procedures
  • Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and draping while maintaining comfort, privacy, and safety
  • Providing instruments, equipment, and hands-on support to the surgical team during obstetric procedures
  • Maintaining a sterile field, performing counts, and ensuring instruments and equipment function properly
  • Working closely with the surgical team to deliver patient-centered care and a seamless surgical experience
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
  • Minimum one year of Surgical Technician work experience in acute care setting- required
  • Labor and Delivery Surg Technician work experience- required
Education
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited educational program for Surgical Technology OR completed appropriate training program for Surgical Technology in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard of the U.S or in the US Public Health Service
  • If not meeting the aforementioned requirements: was employed to practice Surgical Technology in a health care facility before 9/1/09
Licenses and Certifications
  • Surgical Technologists that graduate after September 1, 2009 must hold and maintain a current certification as a Surgical Technologist within180 days from the date of graduation. The certification must be from:
  • The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor; OR
  • The National Center for Competency Testing or its successor; OR
  • Another surgical technologist certification program approved by the department
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David’s Healthcare policy
