Job summary

West Henderson Hospital, part of The Valley Health System, is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Tech to support operating room teams in Henderson, NV. You will assist surgeons with exposure and hemostasis under RN supervision, ensuring patient safety and protocol compliance across procedures.

The role requires a Surgical Technology program or board eligibility for SFA certification, current CSFA/CSA/SA-C certification and BLS, plus 3–5 years of surgical tech experience (5–8 years preferred).

Qualifications

• Surgical Technology program or board eligible for SFA certification.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeons with exposure, hemostasis and other technical functions under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Attends to patients’ direct care needs and maintains dignity, privacy and safety.
• Maintains compliance with policies, by-laws and state laws.
• Demonstrates dexterity and professional conduct for successful procedures.

Job Description

Assists surgeons with exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, attends to the patients’ direct care needs. Accepts responsibility for his/her integrity with respect to maintenance and compliance, to policies. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, and other team members, with respect to the requirements of a particular surgical procedure. Demonstrates and maintains dexterity sufficient for successful completion of his/her assistant duties on each particular procedure. Maintains a professional attitude with respect to the dignity, privacy, and safety of the patient. Functions within the limits of his/her ability, and within the scope of practice set forth by the medical staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and appropriate state law.

Qualifications

Shift: PER DIEM VARIED

Education:

Technical School/2 Years College/Associate’s Degree: Surgical Technology, or program board eligible for SFA certification require. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience:

Three to five (3-5) years surgical tech experience required. Five to eight (5-8) years surgical tech experience preferred.

Technical Skills:

Continuing education programs to maintain and enhance clinical competencies related to perioperative or First Assisting practice.

License/Certification:

Current CSFA Certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA-C certification (through ABSA) required. Certification must be maintained for employment. Current American Heart Association (BLS).

Other:

Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit/department.
