Job summary

Texas Health Resources in Fort Worth is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support the Operating Room at Texas Health Fort Worth. This full-time night shift role offers a sign-on bonus and opportunities to work with a high-volume, trauma-capable department.

The ideal candidate will hold CST certification (NBSTSA or NCCT) or equivalent, have OR experience, and demonstrate confidentiality, teamwork, and meticulous perioperative care across pediatric to geriatric patients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before Sept 1, 2009 (Required)
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (Required)
  • Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program or military training completion within 2 years of hire (Preferred/Upon hire)

Responsibilities

  • Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcomes.
  • Assist in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and support RN circulator.
  • Assist in providing peri-operative care for patients from Infants to Geriatrics and help form the plan of care.
  • Post-operatively assist with instrument and supply handling and RN circulator duties as directed.

Work hours: Full-Time, Night Shift (36 Hours/Week)

Here’s What You Need
Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Required
  • Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Required
  • Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Preferred
Experience
  • 1 Year of current operating room experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire Required Or
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and was employed to practice surgical technology in a healthcare facility before September 1,2009 Or
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA) or TS-C (NCCT) and graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology within 2 years of hire Or
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Required AND
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required

What You Will Do
  • Intra-operatively displays skills and behavior conducive to desirable outcome.
  • Assists as needed in coordinating patient care Peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Assists in providing Peri-operative care for a patient population that includes Infants, Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics. Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
  • Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
