Role Overview

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, assists in nursing care and preparation of surgical patients. Performs scrub duties, maintains sterile technique, assists with equipment and supplies, and supports patient care activities in the operating room.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons as a scrub person, maintaining aseptic technique.
• Set up operating tables, instruments, and supplies according to the procedure.
• Prepare and drape patients for surgery.
• Anticipate and assist with instrument and supply needs during procedures.
• Maintain and care for surgical specimens and equipment.
• Assist with patient positioning, dressing, and transport.
• Perform sterilization and decontamination of instruments and supplies.
• Support housekeeping and safety protocols in the OR.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma; completion of a recognized surgical technologist program.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from NBSTSA.
• Annual continuing education (minimum 15 hours).
