Job summary

CHI Health Saint Elizabeth is seeking a Surgical Tech to help prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team in a variety of procedures. You will set up instruments, ensure a sterile field, and support patient care throughout the operative process.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Current Surgical Tech certification required.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the operating room and instruments for procedures.
• Assists the surgical team and maintains a sterile environment.
• Assists in positioning and draping the patient as needed.
• Handles medications on the sterile field under RN direction.
• Participates in orientation of new personnel as needed.
• Adapts quickly and collaborates within the OR team.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient's healing process.

• Assists in the orientation of new personnel and will orient new associates as needed and experience level will allow.
• Plans for and prepares necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment required for surgical procedures.
• Demonstrates knowledge and technical skill in the care and use of instruments, supplies and equipment used during a surgical procedure.
• Performs skin prep as directed.
• Assists in positioning and draping the patient for the appropriate procedure.
• Properly identifies and handles medication passed onto the sterile field under the direction of the RN.
