Job summary

LCMC Health—including East Jefferson General Hospital in Louisiana—seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. You will maintain sterile technique, prepare instruments, and assist the circulating nurse to ensure safe surgeries.

Required is graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program with CST and current BLS certification; prior surgical tech experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required or NBSTSA/NCCT certification.
• Current BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the circulating nurse with patient positioning and preparation of the operative site.
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field.
• Provide scrub assistance during procedures with knowledge of anatomy and instrumentation.
• Apply asepsis principles and verify sterile instruments; report any breaches to the circulating nurse.
• Prepare the operating room by opening sterile supplies, instruments, and sutures according to the surgeon's preference.
• Follow scrubbing, gowning, gloving, back table setup, draping and counting procedures.
